Nakamun Lake Park Beach
Barrhead, Alberta, Canada

Nakamun is the Cree word for "song of praise." Nakamun Park has a small sandy beach, boat launch and day use amenities. The lake is accessed by gravel road on the south shore. This lake has a history of algae-related water quality issues. There is currently (Aug 28, 2019) an iron remediation study being conducted in the lake by researchers at the University of Alberta. The stewardship association in the area has worked hard to identify problems and solutions with the lake water quality recently. This could lead to better recreational water quality in the future.
The lake is still a popular destination for Summer recreation and Nakamun Park is the best option for the public. This is a day use area with a small beach, boat launch, and dock.
