The name Maraetai means "meeting place by the sea" in M?ori. This long stretch of beautiful white sand lines the Traki Strait connects you to Omana Regional Park. The park is limited mobility accessible and has many amenities including campgrounds, picnic areas with grills, drinking water, children's playground and a large fields perfect for sports.

This beach has received a special status of green. The area is no longer monitored due to its history of excellent water quality.
