Amityville is known as the "friendly bay village" and started as a farming community that had strong ties to the fishing and boating industries. The Amityville Municipal Bathing Beach Park is found at the end of South Bayview Avenue next to the James Caples Memorial Park. The beach has restrooms, showers, a concession stand, beach and fishing piers, and other basic beach amenities as well as a large parking lot. The Memorial Park adjacent to the beach has a playground, lighted softball field, and a boat ramp. The Amityville Beach Pavilion may be rented by village residents. This is a Tier I beach.
