Water Quality Status
DISCLAIMER: Like all information on this website, Water Quality Status is provided for your consideration, but is no guarantee of water quality or health outcomes if you enter, swim or interact with the water. Always obey officially posted signs, advisories and safety guidance, and use your judgement to be safe.
Water Quality Status is based on recent or past testing at the location, or manually posted information and advisories.
The status will be one of the following nine types:
Recent Test Status
The most recent test results met relevant water quality standards.
The most recent test results failed to meet water quality standards.
The most recent test results are too old (more than 7 days old), or unavailable or unreliable. |
Historic Test Status
When swimming season is over or when a location's water quality data has not been updated frequently enough (weekly) it goes into historical status. This means that rather than displaying a recent test status, it displays the location's average water quality for the year.
Historically passed water quality tests 95% of the time or more.
Historically passed water quality tests 60-95% of the time.
Historically passed water quality tests less than 60% of the time. |
Special Status
The status can be manually set for a location if there are concerns about the testing protocol, if there is an emergency, if monitoring practices don't exist or have recently changed, or other reasons that render this location "special."
A Blue Flag status for the current swimming season. This status does not indicate current water quality.
There are water quality issues or there is an emergency.
No current water quality information, the beach is under construction, or there has been an event that has rendered water quality information unreliable or unavailable. |
